Rachel Lenington
Chief Operating Officer and Chief Development Officer
Rachel brings extensive strategic and operational leadership experience in drug development, commercialization and launch to Athira. Joining the company in June 2021, Rachel is leading the clinical development, marketing, communications, and technical operations teams to deliver on the organization’s mission and growth.
Prior to joining Athira, Rachel has spent over twenty years in life sciences working across a variety of therapeutic areas and phases of development from pre-IND through commercialization. At leading biotech companies including Amgen and Seagen, Rachel played an instrumental role in multiple global approvals and launches for Prolia®, ADCETRIS®, PADCEV®, and TUKYSA®. In addition, she spent time at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation leading strategy and business operations for global health programs and building partnerships with vaccine manufacturing organizations in emerging markets. She also serves on the board of directors of Global Health Labs, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on developing health technology solutions for underserved populations.
Rachel began her career as a management consultant for Accenture and Deloitte Consulting. She received her BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
