Letter from the CEO, Mark Litton, PhD

At Athira, our approach is rooted in restoring and maintaining connections. Loss of nerve cell connections are the underlying cause for numerous neurological diseases which in turn may result in the loss of personal connections between patients and their loved ones. Our goal is to restore both cellular and personal connections by advancing bold neurological therapies, thoughtfully and urgently.

We have prioritized our values to be core operating principles. By putting our values first, we aim to provide better care for people through our innovative research and accessible products.

  • People. We care for our patients, caregivers, and employees.
  • Integrity. We always strive to do the right thing.
  • Collaboration. We want to share with and learn from each other; we value every voice. Every opinion is important.
  • Perseverance. We will find a way, or we will make a way. Nothing is impossible!
  • Transformation. We want to change the way things work and challenge how people think, combining experience with new ideas. We are obsessed with innovation!
  • Inclusion. We want our therapies and our workplace to be accessible and beneficial to everyone. We are proud of our ability to learn and endorse different ideas.
  • Resourcefulness. We want to be efficient in our approach to challenges; there is beauty in simplicity.

We aim to make a difference as individuals and as part of a team –working collaboratively towards goals often met most effectively by valuing the importance of working together.

We share a strong sense of camaraderie, motivated by a sense of urgency that patients are waiting. Our purpose centers us, and we trust and challenge each other to bring our best every day.

We don’t believe in silos. We collaborate, share ideas and expertise, learn together, and appreciate the value that every member of our team contributes.

Athirians embrace change, act with courage of candor, participate in decision-making, respect work:life balance, are patient-centered, adapt to new information, think outside the box, align expectations, and overcome barriers.

By living these values every day, we will urgently develop groundbreaking therapies to treat neurological diseases and continue to maintain important connections, both physiological and personal.
